Question:
Has anyone here ever eaten pig feet or pig ears? I hear they're great but I'm afraid to try them?

Pigs feet prepared Chinese style tastes like a soy sauce marinated pork. It's very tender but fatty. The skin of the pig is gelatin like. Tasty but oily. Sometimes there are some hairs that weren't removed and the stubble reminds me of a woman who has't shaved their leg for a couple of days.

The pig ear taste like fried pork rinds. Crunchy, sometimes hard but tasty.

OOOOOHHHHH GIIIIIIRRRRRLLLLLL.... you are missing out, Honey! Don't let the way it sounds scare you away! Pickled pigs feet are great, TRY EM ASAP...and then try making your own. I have a Sylvias Soul Food cookbook recepie I'm going to give you:

ingredients: 6 pigs feet, split in 1/2

1& 1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons dstilled white vinegar

2 tablespoons lemon pepper

1 tablespoons salt

1tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

1/4 cup bbq sauce

rinse the feet; add everything EXCEPT bbq sauce & green pepper to a 6-quart pot & boil..then reduce to simmer, covered for about 2hours. Add the grn pepper & bbq sauce (add hot sauce if you like..i put ALOT) and simmer 10 mins more. You can also put them on the grill.

I got this recepie when i first met this GORGEOUS guy who said he grew up in the country and that pigs feet were his favorite..i made this, with greens and neckbones, fried cornbread, sweet potato casserole with brown sugar, and Monticello macaroni & cheese...he was VERY IMPRESSED!!! I hope YOU will be too! I'm excited for you to try it, so please keep this recepie!!

It depends on how it's prepared. Different cuisines have different ways of cooking them. I like pig feet stewed in soy sauce and spices, it makes them really soft and comes right off. Pig ears are more crunchy cuz it's mostly cartilage between the skin. I also recommend cow tongue, but that's a bit more advanced.

If you like sour pickled foods, pickled pigs feet or pork hocks are yummy. The grisly texture is unpleasant to some people. I've never tried pigs ears.

Yes, in my country we have a dish called "sisig" which consists of chopped pigs ears served on a sizzling platter. Although it sounds pretty gross (like something they would serve in fear factor) it's delicious because of the seasoning and spices that they cook it in. If you eat it before you know what it is, you certainly wouldn't feel squeamish because it's delish!

Pigs feet are really chewy. You take a bite, and then have to work and work at it. I wasn't impressed.

Eeeewwww... nope, and I don't like chicken feet either. Oddly enough I can handle sushi and pig's intestines (forgot the name of it. It's a mexican dish I believe). :S
