In India, we have 'Japanese Plum' smaller than regular plums available in United States. In Urdu, it is called Aloocha. In Hindi or Punjabi, it is called Aloo-Bukhara.
In Punjab, sometimes the distinction is made on the ripeness. When the fruit is not yet ripe, it is very sour ('Khatta' in Hindi), it is called 'Aloocha' and used to make Chutney. When the fruit is fully ripened and sweet, they are called 'Aloo-Bukhara'
