The Melting Pot is a restaurant that specializes in fondue.

Fondue is a melted cheese sauce where people dip bread and veggies into the sauce and eat.

Also, there are dessert fondue where little cheesecakes, fruit and brownies are dipped into a chocolate sauce.

I went to the one in Seattle, so I don't know if it's the same place in Philly. Could be since I think it's a chain restuarant.

My wife and I tried the place... we got the happy hour special (1/2 price).

What we thought.... Hmmm...?

We thought that it was kind of pricey even with the special.

If we were to go back again, we would only do dessert, which was good. The main course just didn't impress us.

However, you should give it a shot just to experience the restaurant and try some fondue. Fondue was a big thing in the 70's.

Just relax and have fun. Enjoy the experience with friends. I believe 80% of the meal is based up good company and the food is secondary - unless it's crap. You get what I mean?

It's a little of a creation with all of the fondue and scorching pot cooking; a fair position to move for a date night time or with a institution. Dress in gentle apparel; the ones scorching pots and fondue pots get fairly hot!

Expensive! I went a while ago, and though i don't remember exact details, i do remember that you are given 2 prong forks and various raw foods (depending on the course) that you get to cook in a pot at the center of the table. (I probably didn't describe that right.) it's fun (in my opinion), an has a likeness to fondue. takes a while though. I went to one in texas, never been to philly.
